The Gmail email settings are the same in both ClientBase Windows and ClientBase Online.
In ClientBase Windows:
If you are a user, go to Utilities > My Login > Email Settings.
If you are a database administrator, go to Utilities >User Logins > User List. Double-click on the user and select the Email Settings tab.
In ClientBase Online:
If you are a user, go to Tools > My Login > Email Settings.
If you are a database administrator, go to Tools > Settings > User Logins. Click on the user and select the Email Settings tab.
Recently, Gmail has recently tightened security even more, and if the user’s password/settings suddenly stop working, you may get an error like this. Of course first do check the password, and if you are sure that it is correct, then follow the steps below:
Here is what to do:
Go to the Security section in their Gmail account and make sure Two step verification must be turned on. Here is how:
Log into the user’s Gmail account and select the Google Apps icon located in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Next, select Account.
On the left hand side, select Security.
Move down to 'Signing in to Google'. Two step verification must be turned on.
After you turn on 2-Step Verification, you will be able to create an app password for ClientBase. Click on App passwords.
If you’ve set up 2-Step Verification but can’t find the option to add an app password, it might be because:
• Your Google Account has 2-Step Verification set up only for security keys.
• You’re logged into a work, school, or another organization account.
• Your Google Account has Advanced Protection.
After you turn on 2-Step Verification, you will be able to generate an app password. Enter "App Password" in the search menu of your Google account or follow this url to generate an app password: https://myaccount.google.com/apppasswords.
Enter CBW or CBO as the App Name and click Create.
Copy the app password, and paste it in the password field in CBW or CBO. If you are testing in CBW, if the test is successful, don’t forget to go to Utilities/My Login to paste in the Email Settings tab to change permanently.
